What is Production System?

Production System

Definition:  A production system is consisting of a group of people (workers, supervisor, and managers etc) and the procedure to manage and perform the manufacturing process of the organization (company or factory) .the production system can be divided into two types.

1.       Facilities.

2.      Manufacturing support system.

1.  Facilities. The facilities in the system of production are the factory, machines by which the processes of production can be done on that, tools by which operate the work, material treatment equipment, examination equipment, and the computer system that manage the production (manufacturing) process. In facilities there is also include the layout of the factory means the layout of the plant in where the operation will be processed, and that is referred to the path that the equipment is physically managed in the factory.
In the way of the human involvement in the operation do by the manufacturing organization so there are three fundamental types of Facilities.

(a) Manual work system
 (b) worker machine system
 (c) automated systems.

Manual Work System. The manual work system is a system in which the worker should perform the operation manually and cannot use any powered machine. This system requires and uses the hand tools and equipment.
The example is given below.
    1. An operator can use a file to make edges o the rectangular rod be round that is milled.
    2. A quality control inspector which can use the measuring equipment to measure the diameter of the shaft.
     3. A group of assembly workers can be putting machinery piece together so the worker can use the hand tools.

Worker Machine System. In worker machine system an employe can be operating powered equipment.this is the widely using manufacturing system.
Examples of Worker Machine System.
1 An operator can be operating an engine lathe in a tool room to make the parts for the custom-designed product.
2. A fitter and an industrial robot can be performing working together in an arc-welding work cell.

Automated Systems.  An automated system is that system in which an operation is complete and done by without the straight and direct involvement of an employee. It can be performed by using a program of instruction which is connected with the computer system that gives the training.
There are two types of automated system.
1.       Semi-automated.
2.       Fully automated.

Manufacturing Support System. The manufacturing support system involves a set of information and operational activities. So they are given below.
·         Business function.
·         Product design.
·         Manufacturing planning.
·         Manufacturing control
